Yn 1988 cafodd y Beibl Cymraeg Newydd ei gyhoeddi gan Gymdeithas y Beibl mewn cydweithrediad ag eglwysi Cymru, i nodi 400 mlwyddiant Beibl William Morgan. Daeth yn hynod boblogaidd yn fuan iawn. Fodd bynnag, i bobl ifanc, a phobl nad oeddent wedi arfer ag iaith eglwysig, roedd yr iaith yn rhy aruchel a llenyddol. Addasodd Dr Edwin Lewis Efengyl Marc o'r Beibl Cymraeg Newydd ar gyfer Mudiad Addysg Gristnogol Cymru. Roedd i'w ddefnyddio mewn ysgolion cynradd ac uwchradd ac yn defnyddio iaith fwy llafar. Fe'i cyhoeddwyd dan y teitl “Duw ar waith” ym 1990. Cyhoeddir hwn gyda chaniatâd Mudiad Addysg Grefyddol Cymru.

Duw ar waith - The Good News According to Mark 1990

In 1988 the Bible Society co-operating with the churches of Wales produced the New Welsh Bible (Y Beibl Cymraeg Newydd), to mark the 400th anniversary of William Morgan's Bible. This came out and became popular. However for young people, and people who did not grow up with church language, the language level was often too high and literary. Dr Edwin Lewis adapted the Gospel of Mark from the New Welsh Bible for the Christian Education Movement of Wales (Mudiad Addysg Gristinogol Cymru). It was for use in primary and secondary schools and used more colloquial language. It was published as Duw ar waith (God at work) in 1990.

Digital Edition

Duw ar waith was digitised with the help of MissionAssist in May 2020 for adding to the Welsh Bible app (ap Beibl). This is part of a project to provide Welsh speakers with a comprehensive list of historic and modern Scripture translations. This is published with the permission of Religious Education Movement Wales.
